"How do I clean my drinking horn?"
Many of us have faced this problem. A new horn will have a taint, an old horn can get mucky. Ale and mead can taste unpleasant, and I have even had the misfortune to see a nest of earwigs floating in the murky depths of a horn full of beer. Unless you like bugs, it is important to keep your horn clean.
Denture cleansing tablets work really well. Fill the horn with cooled boiled water and follow the instructions on the pack you have bought, leaving it overnight. Then fill the horn with beer leaving it to soak for a few hours - the cheaper the better, as you are going to tip it away (Unless you are the type that will not see a drop go to waste, in which case, drink it and good luck to you!). Repeat the beer soak three or four times.
After this treatment, the horn should be broken in. Keep it clean by swilling it with water after use, and dabbing it dry. If it gets musty over time, repeat the above treatment.
If the above fails, pack the horn with bicarbonate of soda and leave for a week before cleaning out with the aforementioned treatment.
